Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late
What happens after you die?
Most people think they will be able to plead their case to the Lord after they die. They erroneously think they will be judged by how good they are. Since most people presume they are mostly good they think the Lord will give them some kind of penance where they may be punished in hell for a few days, weeks, or years and then they will spend the rest of eternity in Heaven.
The problem is that God, Heaven and hell are outside of time. There are no days and nights. Heaven and hell will be a continuous “now”. Wherever you land in eternity it will be just that – eternal. Forever.
If you are a Christian you will go directly to Heaven where God will be your continuous light. The Bible says we will spend eternity there. Eternity means forever, non-ending. With no days or nights it means it will be a continuous “now”. We have confidence as Christians that we will be in Heaven forever because it will be a non-ending day.
By the same token, a person in hell has also entered eternity. Again, with nothing to guage days or nights hell will be in a continuous “now” only in complete darkness. Therefore, it will be impossible to get out of hell. Hell is forever just as Heaven is forever. God won’t be saying you will be in hell for x-number of days or weeks or years and then you are welcome in Heaven.
Our destination is determined before we die. The Lord gives us plenty of time to choose to follow Him. Jesus paid for our sins on the cross. When we repent, receive forgiveness, and trust Jesus as payment for our sins, we are now clean and ready to enter Heaven.
If we reject Jesus and don’t repent our destination is also determined which is hell. Since we are entering eternity, which is forever, it is very important to choose who you will serve before you die. After you die you will find yourself immediately in the place you chose for eternity. There are no second chances.
Joshua 24:15 Choose you this day whom ye will serve
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
